Very early morning geyser field

Being part of a tourist group means you aren't afforded the luxuries of sleeping in. But sometimes that's for the best - like this moment. Very early in a geyser field, we got lucky with the light striking through the steam. I took this photo very quickly as it was about -20 degrees outside and so I rushed back to a geyser hole to get the warm sulphur air again

The Uyuni Desert is such a barren otherworldly place that NASA use it as a test place as to what may or may not be occurring on Mars. Thankfully all we needed to get to "Mars" was a Toyota Land-Cruiser and a driver with a bottomless bag of coca leaves.
