Odessa & Western Ukraine

Travelling light in Ukraine allows you to jump on the minibuses and local share vans and escape the big cities. There’s some beautiful countryside and small towns nestled between Kyiv, Lviv, and the Moldovian and Romanian borders. And the people are lovely. Odessa is a different story — lots of Russian tourists, lots of nightclubs, but still a lot of fun when in the right mood and with the right amount of vodka under your belt.

That was my experience in 2015.

Today, it’s many different stories of bravery, horror, and sadness. Odessa is close to being taken, and Ivano-Frankivsk has recently been targeted. Here’s a couple of reads:
